Our Missionaries

Paul & Simone Weaver

We have worked in Youth With A Mission for 20 years: in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Jeffrey’s Bay and Cape Town, South Africa.

We have been involved in leading Discipleship Training Schools focused on preparing young adults to effectively minister cross-culturally. Simone has just completed her Masters in Christian Formation and Discipleship, while Paul has a Theology Degree. Presently, we are staffing the 2020 Master’s in Christian Formation and Discipleship Degree based in Cape Town and working alongside the International DTS Centre in redesigning Curriculum.

We have four children – Daniel, Emma, Meike and Benjamin.

Valerie-Gail Markowski

I serve at Beautiful Gate South Africa located in Philippi. I am in my 13th year and wear two hats. One ‘hat’ is coordinating our Sponsor a Child program-which entails visiting vulnerable children in their dwellings and reporting back to people/organizations that are part of our Sponsor a Child family. The other ‘hat’ is overseeing Beautiful Gates Charity Shop. Gathering donations, sorting, pricing and selling items to local families. Items are priced low so families can care for themselves or resell to earn an income. We believe in helping families while keeping their dignity intact.

Jo Sharples

I originally hail from the UK but have been in Cape Town for the last 20 years and this is now home. My work has been in different areas of ministry during that time, including 9 years with Scripture Union and 2 years in Malawi.

I enjoy studying and am currently doing a Masters in Practical Theology with Cape Town Baptist Seminary. I love seeing people come to faith and grow in their walk with the Lord. My main areas of ministry are currently evangelism, pastoral care, and prayer ministry.

John Berry

John Berry is a full-time missionary with SIM Southern Africa, serving at their SA head office in Tokai. He has been with them 24 years, of which the first 20 years was as Treasurer, in charge of their finance. He is currently serving as Stewardship officer, which includes fundraising for SIM, donor care, business as mission, public relations and assisting missionaries with support raising.

He serves King of Kings as the church treasurer. John has a passion to see finance raised to serve the body of Christ, particularly for mission work.

Willem & Edith Conradie

Willem and Edith coordinate Discipling Nations. Our vision is to mobilise and equip local churches in Africa to make disciples of all nations. Our mission is to provide a dynamic, accessible, affordable and academically attainable short training programme to equip God’s people for effective cross-cultural mission, in the context of the local church. Our passion is for local churches to have God’s heart for the least reach peoples, both near and far. Willem is also pastor of Kalk Bay Community Church and with Edith coordinate the outreach in Kalk Bay: harbour ministry, Joy Club, ministry to the homeless and the fisherman’s village.

Rob & Jackie Walker

20 years ago I graduated from Bible College, still wanting to be a Civil Engineer, but God’s Word and a passion to share it had gripped me more than my desire for engineering. I didn’t however know what to do with that passion as I really didn’t feel called to be a pastor of a local church. Thankfully God put a few wise and godly people around me who suggested I should try doing student ministry with Dr. Roger Palmer at UCT and I guess the rest is history. For 4 years I poured my life into student ministry and, looking back, I got to live a wonderfully simple and uncluttered life in the midst of a life changing community at the UCT Student Y. I got to teach and live the Christian life in community day in and day out. What a privilege.

Normand & Henriette Saindon

Normand and Henriette Saindon, missionaries serving with SIM in Cape Town. This is after 15 years of service in Mozambique.

Richard & Bernice Anderson

Richard and Bernice Anderson are the National Directors for the South African branch of Chinese Church Support Ministries (CCSM) of which the mandate globally is to serve, strengthen and support the Church and the people of China. We have offices in 9 Nations.

CCSM provides a track for Christians from South Africa, and around the world to serve in China short- and long-term. CCSM strengthens, provides resources free of charge and equips the Chinese Church with Bibles and Christian teaching materials. We are also very supportive to the people of China through informed prayer and through mercy projects amongst the poor, needy and orphaned.

Nick & Daisy Muriro

Nick and Daisy are from Zimbabwe and they are missionaries with Youth With A Mission. Their work involves evangelism, discipleship, teaching and training in biblical studies. Their students come from different parts of the world. Nick often travels in Africa, teaching, preaching and training different audiences in the scriptures. Daisy is involved with discipling women from nearby communities.

Chris & Nancy Maphosa

Chris and Nancy Maphosa are missionaries with SIM in Zimbabwe. They are based in Mutare with their three children: Peace, Blessing and Chris jr. Chris is the Project Manager and Coordinator for the Southern Africa Region of the SIM ministry called Today for Tomorrow (T4T). T4T is a children’s ministry and their focus is to reach children in schools, communities and churches as well as to train adults who interact with children. Chris and Nancy are pro-active in expanding the reach of T4T into Zambia and Mozambique while supporting their existing operations in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. Chris and Nancy are also pro-active in partnering with individuals and organisations who share their vision of ministering to and investing in the youth of today who will be the church of tomorrow.
