We look at something very real that divides people into two camps, a Day, that the Bible tells us is coming, which will either bring you great terror, or great joy. This lesson teaches us about this day in the last passage in Malachi, the last words of the Old Testament, written about 400 years before Jesus was born as a man.

We’ve all been in a place where we’re like, “I don’t think I agree Lord”—I would have much preferred a different outcome here God! Not so sure I feel the same way about some of the stuff you expect of me in your Word God! We’ve all found ourselves in that kind of position.

God Hates Divorce

We have all heard the expression “God hates divorce, but loves the divorcee” – it sounds like a cliché, but it is true. As Christians, we have sat with many couples going through incredible pain and heartbreak as marriages fail and as Pastors we will never recommend divorce as an option. However God also hates abuse and cruelty. In extreme cases, if someone is in danger it would be foolish to say blindly “just stick it out.” God does hate divorce, but it is especially the pain divorce causes that he hates.

What sort of influence are you to others? John Maxwell reminds us that influence is one of the most powerful forms of leadership we have over others. True leadership comes from influence and it has to be earned. You are having influence over others – the question is whether it is good or bad influence and this passage is about God’s judgment against those who exercise bad influence on others around and under them.

Where is My Honour

Where is my honour? What an important question in a day when it is fashionable to be dishonourable, when children are encouraged to dishonour their parents, when spouses are encouraged to dishonour their spouse, when people are encouraged to dishonour their leaders, and when even Christian leaders dishonour God.

How the Father Loves Us

Sunday 31 July 2016

Neil Smith

Listen to Sermon

In the book of Malachi, God is speaking to his people who are not in a good place spiritually. They are not doing well. They had lost touch with Him. They had got stuck in a spiritual rut. Their love for God had grown cold. Spiritual flames were flickering low, they had got cynical, their faith had lost its edge, their worship had become formal and rote. It was more duty than delight. Sound familiar to anyone? The message of Malachi has it’s finger right on the pulse of where many people are at today.
