Well, after all the build-up, Easter is finally here! and what a day to celebrate! Jesus is risen! Can you imagine what it was like that first Easter morning – first the sadness of going to visit the grave of Jesus, then the crazy discovery, that the tomb was empty, and then, the slow realisation… that Jesus was not dead! but He had risen from the dead! That Jesus was alive! That must have been an amazing morning.

What’s good about Good Friday? At first glance, it would appear that there is not a lot good on this day, unlike Easter Sunday where we celebrate with chocolate eggs and joyful, triumphant worship, Good Friday is sombre, subdued and depressing. Why not skip Good Friday and go straight to Easter Sunday?

In a culture that is afraid to commitment, we are called to go against the flow. What if, as Christians, we dared to commit? God calls us to commit to Loving God, Loving People and Making Disciples. When we commit to these things our lives are  transformed. Have Daring Faith, and Dare to Commit, and watch your life transform it something that has eternal significance.

Daring to Face Your Fears

It would seem to me, that there is a real fear onslaught aimed at many people today. I’m not sure if you have realized this, but the enemy has really been bringing a huge fear attack against the church, and the followers of Christ in recent times. So much so, that people are absolutely terrified to share their faith! Christians are being silenced through fear. But it’s not just fear of being rejected and ridiculed for sharing your faith – fear takes many different forms.

And you don’t have to look far to find reasons for fear… from the personal micro challenges of life, to the challenges of school, varisty, work, or lack thereof… To the macro challenges of society, crime, the economy, and the crazy politics around that recently, fear lurks behind every corner, eager to consume us.

Sometimes our prayers are so safe

“Lord bless me”

“Lord go before me’

“Lord I pray for your protection”

“Lord won’t you be with me today as I…”

Lord won’t you give me a park?

How often do we say prayers that take us out of our comfort zone? What does it look like to pray for what we think we need, vs what we actually need?

Daring Faith

Faith is having confidence in what we hope for… and assurance about what we do not see. You see. Faith has to do with your vision. It has to do with what you see. The bible says that faith is a way of seeing. How many of you know that there is always more than one way to look at something? Right? Faith is about seeing things from God’s perspective. It’s about seeing things from God’s point of view.
